Mia at NY Joy Laugh Club: A Night of Laughs, Cane Juice, and Community

On our journey to introduce Mia to the world, we’ve learned that some of the best moments come from chance encounters. I met Leanna Truong at Thái Nguyên & Monique Truong’s book launch—she was instantly warm, supportive, and generous. Through her, we were welcomed into the Asian Nation community and had the privilege of sponsoring the NY Joy Laugh Club for AAPI Month.
The night was full of laughter and a little chaos—the good kind. Hosted by the charismatic Charlene Kaye (who also had us briefly convinced she was Bobby Lee), the lineup featured a crew of hilarious comedians who took the stage and handled a tough corporate crowd like pros. Wilfred Padua, Andre Kim, Jason Choi, and the unshakable Aparna Nancherla brought sharp sets and steady laughs.
Meanwhile, Mia was being poured at the bar, right alongside Momofuku’s Spicy K Margarita. Guests grabbed bottles between sets, curious, smiling, and asking: “Wait—what is this?” Watching people try Mia for the first time—and seeing their faces light up—is hands-down one of the most fulfilling parts of this journey.
The other thing we’ve come to love? Meeting new people—artists, comedians, bartenders, strangers turned friends. This brand has opened doors to some truly special connections.
It was a night of good vibes, great people, and more than a few friendly dogs milling around. Exactly where we want to be.
