Mia’s first public introduction happened exactly the way we hope people discover us—naturally. We bumped into Phoebe Tran of Bé Bếp, and she immediately recognized Mia as the Vietnamese word for sugarcane juice. “Wait… is this mía mía?” Yes. Yes it is. Simply put: Mia is sugarcane juice—bottled.

A few weeks later, we had the honor of serving Mia at Mai’s Áo Dài book launch, hosted by authors Monique Truong and Thái Nguyên. Between the Vietnamese-inspired fashion, the energy of the crowd, and Thái’s stunning áo dài designs, it was already a beautiful night. But it was the reactions to Mia that made it unforgettable.

People sipped. They paused. Then came the smiles and stories.

“It tastes just like the stuff I had back home.”
“Reminds me of childhood summers.”
“Where can I get this—Costco?”

That night reminded us why we’re doing this. Sugarcane juice isn’t just a drink—it’s a thread through so many of our personal and cultural memories. And Mia is here to keep those memories flowing while making the experience more accessible for everyone.

We’re grateful to have started our journey with a celebration so rooted in Vietnamese identity, pride, and community.
